Eartec Communication System Solution:

The Eartec system is the Simultalk 24G system which provides hands free full duplex wireless communication for your boat or other environment. The full duplex capability allows you to both talk simultaneously. The Simultalk 24G radios send and receive messages on different frequencies allowing users to communicate at the same time. Mariner 500 Headset System Solution:

Our Aviation Style Headsets operate on a 9V battery snapped into one ear-set. The volume selector offers Low or Hi. The headband adjusts to your comfort. The range is rated at 300 feet but most of us don't have a boat that long. Therefore we recommend that the antenna be tucked in to prevent contact with boat paraphernalia such as fore-stay or spreaders, that may want to knock the headsets off.

The microphone has a foam wind guard to reduce wind interference. Speak in a normal tone with the mouth piece about 3" (7cm) from your mouth and your conversation will be one to one as though you are facing each other in the cockpit.

If you are near a radio tower, you may have some musical accompaniment, but your private conversation will still be crystal clear.

The two headsets come with a padded storage case and one year warranty.

iPod touch™ or iPhone™ Solution:

If you currently have some combination of iPod touch™ 2G, 3G or iPhone™ 3G, 3GS devices, then you can set up these devices as walkie talkies using the bluetooth capability. These devices will help you communicate easily on your boat and will leave your hands free to take care of other boating tasks.

Note: The first generation of the iPod touch™ does NOT support bluetooth and cannot be used as a walkie talkie.

You will need to have a headset with a microphone for each iPod touch™ device to set up your walkie talkie communication environment. We offer a way to convert your existing headset to have voice capability by adding an adapter that contains a microphone to allow you to have a full-duplex two way communication environment. This allows both of you to speak and be heard at the same time. The microphone adapter is an inexpensive way to add a microphone to your existing headset without having to reinvest in a new one which can be very costly depending on the type of headset that you currently have. The adapter plugs into your iPod touch™/iPhone™ and you plug your headphones into the adapter. The microphone adapter includes a convenient low-profile lapel clip.
